Has anyone encountered FireFox freezing up when accessing Gmail? It seemed to happen quite often for me, and I realized the common site being accessed was always Gmail. Too much Ajax happening in the background?

Perhaps this will force me to upgrade from FireFox 2.0.0.16 to the new spunky FireFox 3?
If this is happening to you, a suggestion by a certain amanda on troublefixers.com was to clear the browser cache by pressing Ctrl+Shift+Del. I’m not sure when you do this – AFTER it freezes once, then restarting FireFox, or to just do it periodically?

I use 2.0.0.17 with gmail all the time and it is fine.
If you are upgrading to version 3… be ready for the “awesome bar”… which I don’t find so awesome… that’s why I’m still on version 2.
yea Jek Tan
its not awesome at all
that’s strange gmail work fine for me ….
report it to mozilla your voice is heard
And now that I’m on a Macbook Pro, Firefox also seemingly shuts down by itself at times too! And I feel it’s also Ajax related… like when I’m on Gmail or doing something on Facebook.
Then again, I surf with at least 10 different tabs open at once.
Thanks for problems solutions and giving updates.
Yeah, I’ve certainly noticed this. It’s causing me to think up all these conspiracy theories about google and facebook. I’m a web developer and I would REALLY like to know exactly what is happening here. Unfortunately, I’ve been unable to google a suitable answer.
By the way, it doesn’t seem to be a browser-specific problem.
