Daily Mail quotes ceoSteveJobs, parody Twitter account by mistake

Time-to-market is key in the race to “break the news”, but news agencies oftentimes seem to falter with information that is seemingly handed to them, and not verified. Some, as with this case, have their new media staff on standby to write up and post news quickly, even on weekends!
Today, the Daily Mail, UK’s 2nd biggest-selling newspaper made a boo boo by quoting a parody Twitter account, thinking it was the REAL Steve Jobs. Many of us who spend copious amounts of time on Twitter are familiar with the popular …

iMaxi case for your iPad

Need protection for your iPad? Jokes surrounding the name for Apple’s latest device have been floating around since the second Steve Jobs announced the product, but these guys take the pie for making it the jokes a reality.

This iMaxi product with wings is probably slated as a gag that will humiliate that insane Apple fanboy/fangirl in your life who incessantly talks about Apple, Apple, APPLE. It’s fairly cheap to give away as a crazy gift, but I wouldn’t be caught dead with one. If you’re really, really keen on getting …

Facebook pages of Bill Gates & Steve Jobs

In a humorous article I saw recently in PC World, I thought I’d extract the fictitious profiles of 2 of the greatest tech innovators of all time and share them with you. They put a smile on my face, something we all need on a Monday morning, huh?
Here’s Bill Gates of Microsoft fame – note the snide comments to Steve Jobs. Looks at the contextual advertisement that appeared on the right hand column too!

And now, Steve Jobs, the man who brought us Apple computers (and nearly Apple everything these days!). …

Hackintoshing with Snow Leopard

I’ve been intrigued by Snow Leopard (OSX 10.6) ever since it came out. Sure, many people hail it as the king of bugfixes (just like what Windows 7 is to Vista), but it does sport some pretty nifty features beneath that facade which are unseen.
Anyhow, in keeping with the times, we needed a new Mac-based machine in the office and I decided to get grimy and build one with Snow Leopard AND Windows. Yup, dual-booting it’s called. Over the weekend, I encountered numerous grey screens of death, hung computers and …

iPhone 3G vs iPhone 3Gs camera comparison

Last weekend, I attended a wedding and had the opportunity to use 2 iPhones simultaneously to capture photos. @warrentan had just picked up his iPhone 3Gs the night before and it was still brand spankin’ new! Here’s a side-by-side comparison of how the photos turned out from both phones.
For the iPhone 3Gs, I did use the tap-to-focus on the subject feature. All photos are not touched up, and are saved at the highest quality after adding the watermark in Photoshop.
Initial observations are that the tap-to-focus on the iPhone 3Gs also …

Fixing Apple Mac Mail IMAP error

One day, after making the switch to using Apple Mac Mail coupled with IMAP retrieval through Google Apps, I was unpleasantly surprised by a “goobledigook” error message.
Sure it beats the Microsoft error messages of “An exception 06 has occured at 0028:C11B3ADC” (Do I locate that on Google maps? Or is that on someone’s Tee?), but it was still pretty darn foreign to me.
After doing some research, I found the solution, which was hidden under a haystack, under another haystack. In case you encounter an error message like the following, I …

I’m not one of those crazy Mac fanatics who frowns on PC users, but here’s a very funny photo that I received in my email recently.
Is he a spy? Perhaps his Mac was at the doctors for service?

BarCamp KL was an amazing event, with 100s of likeminded individuals crowding together at Inti College, just to bounce off each other’s passion. It was my first time attending a BarCamp and it was a fun-filled day of various activities.
It goes to prove that geeks are cool (most of us anyway…) and we have varied interests. There were sessions on how to Salsa, Espresso appreciation, sharing of holiday experiences, Kufi art and also a little about coding standards. Overall it’s just a gathering to network and meet others. A few …

I attended a Christian media conference recently, which is meant to promote the use of media in the church context. There were 3 streams – live audio, photography and videography. I opted to improve my production skills and signed up for videography. It was an intense 4 days, where we were indoctrinated with the whole production process, from …
