You’ve heard the phrase, you cannot create something viral: it just becomes viral. And it’s absolutely true! On January 16th 2010, the Malaysian Information Communication and Culture minister, Dr Rais Yatim stated the following, which was deemed as rather preposterous. This had the whole Internet up in arms against him, especially on the Twittersphere. Here’s an excerpt on what he said taken from The Star Online: SEREMBAN: Malaysians, especially Muslims, must avoid being totally immersed in the internet culture, especially … Continue reading
Today, I was given the opportunity to speak to a small group of pastors and ministries and share with them on “Tools and toys to enhance your ministry”. Having been in church for a good 30 or so years of my life, I’ve experienced heaps and I am sensitive to what engages and what doesn’t. I hear a lot from people who are both creative and non-creative. As such, I decided to try and help expose the group to the … Continue reading

Today started off as any other day, except for the fact that tweets flooded in about FREE COFFEE at Starbucks! Never mind the ingenius barista who tried to upsell me the full-blown breakfast, I still got a swell deal on coffee. The concept of the campaign is awesome – freebies will definitely engage the general population and word of mouth will be the powerful medium in addition to social media tools that will spread the brand like wildfire. Literally 50% … Continue reading
Recently I’ve had questions on how I follow so many people on Twitter (at present, I follow 2,300 people) and keep tabs on all of them. The truth is, I don’t. What I’ve found out is, you learn how to filter the people who interest you, and cut out those who don’t. And while you’re at it, learn to increase your productivity too, as Twitter can be a SERIOUS time-waster, if not done right. Please leave me a comment if … Continue reading
Please be very careful where you dish out your Twitter credentials. There are so many sites that claim to offer you little knick knacks, the best of course being the esteemed “thousands of followers, just key in your details here”. Most of them are full of crap, and I have witnessed first-hand how a friend’s account was hacked. I was suddenly getting a plethora of lewd messages about “come watch me play with my 12inch toy LIVE”. (Are they talking … Continue reading
Over the last 2 weeks, I’ve not been to any Tweetups (yet), but I had the chance to meet and make many new friends among those whom I only know as @Username on Twitter. The funny part about meeting in real life, is sometimes you really can’t match their nickname or their avatar to a face. After all, it’s hard to look at someone and match their whole face to a tiny 50×50 pixel avatar! Perhaps you have to frame … Continue reading
If you’re a twitter-maniac and are following hundreds or thousands of Internet users – aside from the fact you’re quite crazy, you might want to streamline which tweets are prioritized over others. I can’t imagine having a tweet come in every minute or so and mess up your timeline. Enter twitTangle which has the tagline of “untangling the mess of too many friends”. It allows you to assign ratings and tags to friends and based on those presets, you can … Continue reading
